The simple truth about making money online is to “focus”. I am an example of this as I have been making handsome money online for a few years now.

When I first started to make money online, the last thing I had on my mind was to focus. I heard plenty of advice from all and sundry and there was substantial information overload. But I never took any action on any advice, with so many distractions.

The problem with me was that I could never choose a project and focus on it to see to its end. Jobs like reading an email, listening to some piece of advice and putting them into action steps used to take away all my time

Some of the information I received had great potential to make money and I would immediately take it on. But unfortunately, I could never finish the project.

The basic problem was that I was never content with the opportunities coming my way. Always searching for something new, more exciting, something which perhaps did not even exist, would take most of my time.

Essentially, I was looking for a shortcut to making good money in the shortest possible time. I was looking for an easy way out. Today I understand that there is no product on earth which is the magic bullet.

Of course I had all the information that is needed to make a decent income online. I was simply not making use of it. I never used to devote enough time to a project to see what kind of returns I would get from it.

I believed all the usual lies which anyone doing business online often hears. I was repeatedly assured by marketers that I can make millions overnight, and I do not have to work much at all.

Believe me, that kind of assurance is all lies. You can never make money online overnight as it takes a lot of time and effort. All you need to do is to select a project, put your sincere efforts into it, focus on it and keep on working till you finish the project.

Once you focus single-minded on one project - be it writing sales copy, building a website, creating a product, or whatever, you will soon see money hitting your bank account.

I have always believed that the first dollar online is the toughest task. There are enough people who get disillusioned with the idea of making money online and get back to their regular jobs.

After you have made your fist dollar online, things start to fall in place and the job of making money online starts getting easier. For me, making my first buck was definitely tough.

Once you have broken the first barrier, your self-confidence gets a boost and you can then keep on doing what you started to do.

Remain focused and repeat the process which brought you your first income. Improve on the process, expand your business, streamline by automation to speed up the process but remain focused till you are done with the project.

Always remember there is no alternative to hard work if you want to continue making money online.

Hard work and focus are the only two aspects which can keep on giving you sustainable returns and stop listening to stories about “how I made my first million overnight”. It never happens that way.
