Test Your Sales Copy Effectively
One of the differences between professional sales copywriters and the normal person is testing. So many people just write their copy and then don’t test it.
Now, there are a lot of different ways to test your sales copy. What I like to do is write three different main headlines before I release the copy.
The reason I do this is so that I can test the conversion rate with each different headline. You just keep track of your page hits and your sales. Figure out the rate and there you go. I’ve even seen professionals have five different headlines to test.
Now, you want to make sure that you get a pretty decent sample size for each headline. I would say that one hundred page hits is a decent start. You can certainly give it more than that, but I wouldn’t do less than that.
You want to be getting at least a 2% conversion rate. There are some variables that go into that. The price of your product is one of them. Another is the type of traffic that you get.
Some people think that traffic is traffic, it really isn’t that simple. If you’re getting people to your sales page who aren’t interested in buying a product, your sales will suffer.
That is why you should get traffic from a lot of different places and focus on getting targeted traffic. That will really help your conversion rate.
There are plenty of other things that you can test. Price is another big one. You might be pricing your product too high or too low. The whole perceived quality thing. You might have a great product, but people don’t believe that you do because the price is too low.
Another thing that you can test is your testimonials and their placement. You might have too many of them right in a row. If you have too many of them in a row, people might not want to take the time to read them all, you will have to split them up.
Maybe you have them too spread out or don’t have enough of them. If you don’t have enough of them, you better find some people that you can give your product to, so they can read it and give you a testimonial.
If you’re still having trouble, you can search for different bonuses to offer. You can also work on your closing remarks, when you try and close the deal. You may not be providing any form of scarcity for the potential customers.
